Rant: Love?
For some reason, last night I was thinking about love. I was trying to work out my opinion on it, what I think love is. Because lately people have been talking about it around me and... it's just got me thinking.
I was going to post all about it too... Until it eventually dawned on me... that I've stopped believing in love.
I dunno if I stopped after my first relationship or my last, but I just... don't completely believe in it any more. I see it as deep affection rather than love. I have to wonder if love even exists, or if it's just some pipe-dream created for us by valentines and songs.
"Love"... people put far too much thought into it, over-analyse it and, in the end, render it meaningless. People mistake obsession for love, lust for love, hell, just a simple smile and people could imagine that it meant that person was in love with them! People just grasp at straws when it comes to love, that I don't think many people even know what it is... or have even experienced it.
I bet, if everyone who said they'd been in love, sat down and honestly thought about it... They'd realise they were wrong.
As an example, my parents. There's no love there, possibly affection, but no love. I don't even think there was love in the beginning. Even when they say "I love you" to each other, there's no feeling behind it, it's just three words like any other. It's strange...
What's worse is those people who have crushes and swear down they're in love. HOW does that work? Doesn't love mean you have to know that person? Deeply, intimately, completely? How can a crush know all those things? They want to be in love so they say it. Same applies for those weirdo's who say they're IN love with a character. Not possible. You can like/love a character, but no way you could be IN love.
I dunno... It's weird and I should stop talking about this before my brain dies! *laughs*
