Although I really don't have time to be typing on this at all...I will briefly.  I am staying at Lee for the first part of the Summer and still trying to decide where to live...I have apx two weeks to decide and some promising options-I just need to decide what will be the wisest place.  There are so many decisions to make as life goes on-I know I ( Read more... )

You definitely have my prayers for your trip to Poland, as well as anything else that might be troubling you lately. It's always a comfort to know that God is in control, even if it's not always the first thing we think about when trouble comes our way.

And I just want to add that Proverbs is great, and might I recommend also James? I've always liked that book because I relate to it easily. But mainly, I wanted to suggest that you go back and read the old verses that we were all taught growing up in church. The ones we learned and recited but really didn't know what they were about, or really didn't put much thought into it. Those were really good passages. My example here is Phillippians 4:13. I never really "got it" when it came to that verse but I read it again as an adult and it really has an impact:

"11-I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12-I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13-I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."

I found that very comforting and encouraging, and I thought you might too.

Oh geez, look at me writing so much when I claim to skim when others write so much ;)

"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him "Go I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2:14-17) Yes, James kicks you where it hurts-but it's the kinda kicking we need! I agree with you also ab re-reading old verses for new meaning. I used to wonder how in the world people read their Bibles over and over again because the book doesn't change, lol. It does grow in its meaning at diff. points though. God's word is awesome! Prayer should be a daily walk-my day goes so much better when I never cease from praying!
