I'm actually quite amazed at how much shit this woman puts up with on a daily basis. I haven't encountered a single person as interesting as she is. I'll list what I've seen her deal with in the short time I've known her:
-She developed tendonitis in both of her knees and carpal tunnel, I believe, in her shoulders
-She has shitty hours (opens and closes about 3-4 times a week)
-She sleeps in the store whenever she has to close and then open the next morning so she can at least get a full night's sleep
-She deals with horrible employees who make lackluster efforts to alleviate her burden
-She has a boss who is constantly exploiting her ability to work and refuses to place a want-ad in the newspaper to hire someone else to help cover some of her shifts
-That very same boss also put a limitation on when she could have a baby because otherwise he would fire her
-She only gets to see her husband once a week
-Her parents live with her, not the other way around, so she has to work to support them
-She's constantly the scapegoat whenever sales don't go well at the store
-She doesn't get a single day off of work for the next month
The list goes on. This put a lot of things in perspective for me. Lately I've rarely complained about being tired, hungry, etc. because I realize that someone else endures worse things than I ever have to endure. If you're ever in need of a nice, healthy reality check so you can appreciate what you've got, try working with this woman. She's become a sort of inspiration to me.
Peace.
