The 2011 Young Artist Awards

Before we post the Young Artist Award winners for this year, we'd like to say how sad it is that such high-profile awards are not based on talent. To be nominated, young actresses' agents or parents must submit a performance for consideration, and/or attend the awards gala. This is why the Young Artist Awards usually nominate unknown young actresses, fame-chasers like Bella Thorne, or the same people year after year. High-profile stars (like this year's Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz, and Elle Fanning) are thrown in for publicity, even though they didn't submit their work.

The Young Artist Awards also give out some of the most bizarre nominations we've ever seen. This year, for example, Elle Fanning is nominated for The Nutcracker but not Somewhere, and Stefanie Scott, not Madeline Carroll, is nominated for Flipped! We're still shaking our heads over those.
