Spotlight: Keke Palmer

  • Why she's here to stay. The 16-year-old has a SAG nomination under her belt; her Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson, VP (about a teenager plucked from an office lobby to become a fashion exec) scored 4.8 million viewers in its premiere; and she's working on a second album.
  • Her True identity. How does Palmer compare with her couture-clad alter ego? "Our styles are a little bit different. She's preppy chic," she says. "I'm vintage hip-hop. But she does see similarities: "We're both optimistic and funny. Not to mention we look just alike."

  • A secret wish. Known for her roles in family-friendly fare like Akeelah and the Bee and The Longshots, Palmer is also quite the comedian -- which became obvious during a recent discussion with her team about endorsement deals. "I said, 'Well, you know, I've been wanting to do Victoria's Secret for years...'"
  • See ya never, Disney. Before Nickelodeon snatched her, Palmer did a pilot, a TV movie (Jump In!), and soundtrack tunes for rival teen machine Disney. But she says the recent Miley Cyrus vs. Demi Lovato YouTube dustup makes her happy she found a different home. "Sometimes people want to make fun, but nobody fights over here!"
