It’s when life goes on without the presence of the person that the heart beats for, is the moment when that heart really starts to test them…
The brakes slam down.
His heart. He clenches around it tighter.
It beats vigorously against the palm of his hand. He fights against his feelings, thumping the instrument that beats for Jaejoong.
Kim.Jun.Su.Stop.It.
*Flashback*
“Here it is!”
Jaejoong pulls Junsu towards the building. He presses his face against the glass, his eyes shift from side to side watching in awe.
“This is the place?”
“Isn’t it beautiful? The atmosphere looks amazing, apparently the food is delicious!”
The windows eventually mists up, Jaejoong rubs his sleeves against the condensation of his breathing clearing the obstruction.
“Let’s go.”
“Hmm…?”
Junsu takes Jaejoong’s hand and leads the older man into the restaurant.
“What are you doing?”
“You said the food is delicious, I’m hungry, let’s eat.”
“Really?”
“Yes now get in.”
“What are you ordering?”
Jaejoong scans the menu excitedly.
“I don’t know, you choose.”
“Tsk, Junsu really?! You have the opportunity to wine and dine in the most poshest restaurant in town and you don’t know what to choose?
It’s because of you, that’s why we’re in the ‘most poshest restaurant in town.’
And there it was the day Jaejoong made his mark in Junsu’s heart causing unintentional thoughts to cross him mind.
*End of flashback*
His heart decided to set it’s foundations in Jaejoong’s, day by day as each layer of concrete is poured along their hearts to become one, Junsu breaks it. He grips onto his heart to stop it from beating, he fucks around with other people’s feelings just to try and push his aside.
Why?
Because Junsu was scared. Never had one person managed to find their way so deep inside Junsu’s heart, to control his feelings, to make his stomach flutter, to make him feel this emotion that he never thought would exist from his world.
Because he had set his world in stone, play but never settle. But then change arrives, the start of his test. Fate?
For years he had played on people’s feelings, breaking their hearts and spitting them out to pick themselves up.
But now the table had turned, his feelings were being played, his heart was breaking…
He was experiencing what all those people he had a ‘relationship’ with felt, the rawness of love, hurt, the pieces of his heart shattering.
It gets worse the further he drives away from Jaejoong, his heart knowing that this was the last time he would see Jaejoong pours over the cement in truckloads. Pouring, moulding, setting, not letting him break it again.
~~~~~
For Jaejoong, his heart didn’t bother to test him.
Why?
Because he would have failed before it had even started…
Because the doors to their heart don’t close as easily.
“Waiter! Another vodka here!”
Jaejoong raises his empty glass, he lies drunkenly across his left arm as he swings his right arm in the air gaining instant attention.
“Waiter!!”
His glass is taken away from his hand.
“Don’t you think you’ve had enough?”
“Nooo! Give me it back!”
Through hooded eyes Jaejoong reaches for the glass, his arm reaches further and further. Before he knows it he’s on the floor.
“Jae…”
He blinks harder as his blurred vision takes over. He suddenly blacks out.
~~~~~
7am. Jaejoong stirs in his sleep, as he turns over the blackness of his vision turns a bright orange. As he struggles to open his eyes, he realised his hand is occupied.
The sleeping form by his side, the red spiked up hair (Jaejoong’s favourite hairstyle)…Did I get so wasted that I’m still hallucinating in the early hours of the morning?
His hand is squeezed tightly, the sleeping form is awake, and he was real. Very real.
Jaejoong pretends he’s still asleep as Junsu pulls his phone out from his jacket.
One new message.
I’m free tonight if you’ll up for some more fun. Call me.
Junsu slips his hand out of Jaejoong’s and watches him, he shakes the thoughts that flood his mind out.
No, it’s too late.
He leaves the bedroom.
Jaejoong’s clenches his hand, his fist turns pale.
The door clicks and his hand is returned to the familiar warmth.
“J-Junsu”
Junsu instantly lets go as if he had been caught out, the corners of his lips lifts slightly.
“What are you doing here?”
“I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”
Jaejoong’s heart.
“How are you feeling?”
So much better now you’re here…
“I’ll live…”
“Erm, good…I’m glad…”
“Why did you come back Junsu-ah?”
Their eyes meet and refuse to part.
“I needed to know.”
“Know what?”
“Whether it was you. Whether it was you that did this to me.”
“Was it me?”
Junsu’s eyes showed an emotion that Jaejoong had never seen before.
“I’m scared.”
“So am I.”
“Is it right that I should feel this? After all this time, one person can’t change me like this. It isn’t possible right?”
“Nothing is impossible.”
“Right.”
“Well is it right I should sit here and listen to you after all you’ve done? Should I have thrown you out? It isn’t possible to forgive someone that’s shattered me, I mean the pieces can’t be picked up and mended back together right?”
Junsu’s heart.
Junsu places his hand on Jaejoong’s heart; his other traces the outline of the older man’s face.
“I’m so scared.”
Jaejoong’s hand reaches Junsu’s chest.
“Just listen to this and you can’t go wrong, I listened and you came back.”
Their heart beats against the palm of their hands.
Junsu leans in.
“I’m listening.”
The whisper of his voices sends Jaejoong back to their first date.
Their noses rubs together, their cheeks meet, his ears filled with the younger man’s warmth. Their lips touch so softly, foreheads resting against each other’s.
“What’s it saying?”
They’re both breathing heavily, holding onto each other’s chest tightly.
“It’s yours and I have no say in its decision.”
