A/N: My heart was breaking as I wrote this, I didn’t want to make Dai-chan cry so much qq… I broke my own heart when I broke TaDaiki up. This was supposed to be short but it ended up as 8 pages so I split it into 2 xD

Opening his eyes Daiki found himself lying on an unfamiliar bed, he noticed that he had an IV stuck into his arm.
“What happened?” asked Daiki
“You collapsed” said Hikaru
“I did?” asked Daiki
“You did…” said Hikaru
There was a knock on the door that got their attention before a man wearing a white coat came in.
“Hello Arioka-kun, would it be okay if I spoke to you alone?” asked the man
“Sure” said Daiki as he watched Hikaru leave
“I’ll be outside Dai-chan” said Hikaru before slipping out of the room
“My name is Okamoto Keito, I’m the doctor that’s in charge of you” smiled Keito
“Is that so?” said Daiki
“First I have a few questions for you, is that okay?” asked Keito
“Of course” answered Daiki
“Before you collapsed… How have you been feeling?” asked Keito
“Fine?” said Daiki but then he remembered all his symptoms and he began to explain “Actually lately I’ve been having pains in my ribs and sometimes I’d feel short of breath and I feel weak”
“Is that so?” asked Keito “Would you mind if I have a look at your chest Arioka-san?”
“Sure go ahead” said Daiki as he felt the doctor feeling his chest, pressing here and there before the hand ended up where he had the surgery and cried out in pain.
“Is it tender here?” asked Keito
“Yes” answered Daiki
“Have you ever been in an accident?” asked Keito
“Yes, a few months ago I was in a bad car crash” said Daiki “Why?”
“I’m afraid to tell you that I think you may be suffering from something we call myocardial contusion” said Keito “It’s a condition where your heart muscle gets bruised due to a big trauma”
“Is… Is that bad?” asked Daiki
“Most cases of myocardial contusion are treatable” said Keito
“Why do I feel like there’s a but in my case” sighed Daiki
“Because you had a heart surgery before due to trauma… I’m afraid yours is not easy to treat” said Keito
“I’ll die?” asked Daiki
“Not really” said Keito “There is a problem with your heart wall and there’s also a problem with your heart’s electrical signalling”
“Meaning?” asked Daiki as he couldn't understand any of the things his doctor was telling him
“It means there’s a likelihood of you going into heart failure if we don't fix it as soon as possible” said Keito
“Is that so?” said Daiki “What’s the chance of me being okay?”
“It’s a 50/50 Arioka-san” said Keito
With that, the doctor turned to leave and let Hikaru back in, waving goodbye to the doctor Hikaru turned to see his friend.
“Is everything okay Daiki?” asked Hikaru
“Ah… Yeah” smiled Daiki

Daiki kept everything a secret from his friends, he didn’t want them to worry about him. He was sure he was going to survive and be fine, but he was beginning to doubt everything when the chest pain that the doctor had mentioned is becoming more prominent. He hid it from his friend until he was caught red-handed going to a cardiology department.
“Daiki?” said a familiar voice
Hearing that familiar voice Daiki silently cursed his luck before he turned around and seeing all his friends there.
“Hi guys” smiled Daiki
“Why are you here Dai-chan?” asked Yabu
“Just checking up” said Daiki
“Are you okay?” asked Yuya
“Yeah, they just wanted to monitor me” smiled Daiki as he silently apologised to his friend for telling a little white lie “Nothing too serious”
“Are you sure?” asked Hikaru
“Of course, what are you doing here?” asked Daiki
“Oh! Yes! They told us that Yuya can see again if we find a donor for him!” said Inoo
“That’s great!” smiled Daiki as he saw his doctor calling for him “I’ll see you guys tomorrow okay?”
Daiki walked from his friend and into the consultation room where he found his doctor who seemed to be bothered with the paper in front of him.
“It’s not looking good, is it?” asked Daiki
“I’m afraid not Arioka-san…” said Keito sadly “I’m afraid there isn’t much more we can do”
“So I’m a ticking time bomb then?” scoffed Daiki
“Arioka-san” reprimanded Keito
“If… I’m going to die.... Can I asked for a favour Sensei” said Daiki as he looked at his doctor with a hard gaze.

Daiki was laughing with Yabu and Hikaru as they waited for Yuya and Inoo to finish their appointment.
“Oh my god that's so funny Hikaru” laughed Daiki “Why are you so stupid?”
“Kota! Daiki called me an idiot!” pouted Hikaru
“Well, you are… I’m kidding you’re my idiot don't worry” said Yabu as he kissed the pout away from Hikaru
“Ew guys, not in front of me!” gasped Daiki “My poor eyes! I saw something that can’t be unseen”
“Geez Dai-chan” laughed Yabu
Daiki laughed, even more so, seeing the two like this before he gasped when he felt a tight constriction in his chest. Clutching his chest he fell to the floor alerting his two friends who abruptly stopped laughing and panicked over Daiki.

“Good new Mr Takaki, we found a suitable donor” said his doctor
“Really?” asked both Yuya and Inoo
“Yes, we can do the operating tomorrow” smiled the doctor
“Thank you!” said both Yuya and Inoo before they watched the doctor leave
“Did you hear that Yuya! You’ll finally be able to see” said Inoo as he kissed his boyfriend
“I know! I can't wait to tell Daiki!” said Yuya

“Heart failure?” repeated Hikaru “He’s going into heart failure?”
“Yes” said Keito “Soon his heart will stop beating…”
“So you mean he’s dying?” asked Hikaru as he collapsed onto the hard floor before he looked at his pale friend on the bed, Yabu watched Keito leave before he went to his boyfriend and hugged him tight.
“How… He said he was fine” said Hikaru
“He was doing fine… Until recently” said Keito
“This can’t happen…” sobbed Hikaru
Hearing soft cries Daiki weakly opened his eyes and noticed his two friends, he tried making a sound but his voice failed him. Determined to apologise for hurting them Daiki tried again.
“I’m sorry…” Daiki said weakly
“Dai-chan… Why?” asked Hikaru as he crawled towards Daiki and rubbing his head
“I didn't mean to cause you pain” said Daiki
Yabu and Hikaru shook their head, it was obvious to them that Daiki was struggling to breathe and speak. They knew it was only a matter of time before this boy would leave them.
“I know what’s going to happen Yabu-chan, Hikaru-kun” whispered Daiki as he pointed towards his bag “There’s a letter in that bag, give it to Yuya when he’s operation goes well”
“Okay Dai-chan” said Hikaru
“I’m tired…” whispered Daiki
Yabu bit his lip and held on tighter on Hikaru, they knew what they had to do. They had to tell Daiki that everything will be fine.
“It’s enough Daiki… It’s okay to rest” said Yabu as he forced himself not to cry “I will make sure Yuya gets well after! So, you can rest assured he’ll be fine”
“Is that so?” whispered Daiki, with Yabu’s reassurance Daiki’s eyes slowly closed and the deafening sound of the heart monitor beep into stillness. At once, the nurse came in and alerted the rest of the medical staff shouting cardiac arrest.

Inoo, Yabu and Hikaru stood behind Yuya’s hospital door with a grim look on their faces.
“Who’s going to tell him?” asked Inoo
“He’s not going to take this very well” said Hikaru “Especially if we tell him about that...”
“I’ll tell him” volunteered Yabu
They all nodded before they came in just in time to see the doctor taking off the bandage in his eyes.
“Okay Takaki-san, open your eyes” said the doctor
Slowly opening his eyes, he had a big grin on his face. He can see! He looked around and saw his friends.
“I can see guys!” shouted Yuya
“Okay Takaki-san I’ll just pop out for a bit” smiled the doctor
Ignoring the doctor Yuya watched his friends before a frown was seen in his face, Yabu knew what Yuya was going to ask.
“Where’s Daiki?” asked Yuya
There it was, the question the three of them were dreading to answer. Yabu gathered his courage and plucked a white envelope before placing it in front of Yuya.
“What’s this?” asked Yuya
“It’s from Daiki” said Yabu
“Okay, but where is he?” asked Yuya as he tried to open the letter before he felt Yabu stopping him
“Before you do that listen to me first” said Yabu as he placed Yuya’s hands on the bed “I-… Daiki isn’t here anymore Yuya”
“Not here? What do you mean? Don’t tell me he left?” asked Yuya
“No, Yuya Daiki didn’t leave” said Yabu as he composed himself “He-… Daiki’s dead Yuya”
“What?” said Yuya as he looked at Yabu “Geez Yabu why are you joking with me”
“I’m not joking Yuya… Daiki died from heart failure” said Yabu
It was then that Hikaru who had been composing himself fell to the floor sobbing, everything that had happened that day was still fresh in his mind.
“Daiki… Told us to give you that once you could see” said Yabu
With shaking hands, Yuya clumsily opened the letter and begun reading it.
Dear Yuyan,
I’m sorry Yuyan, I know I told you
I’ll always be there for you; it seems like I’ll fail you on that
I’m sorry I didn’t tell you…I’m sorry I didn't tell you I was dying
I didn't want to make you sad, so I just kept silent.
Do you remember what I told you before? That I’ll try to be there for you? And that I’ll be your eyes?
Don’t worry I made sure to complete that promise to you… Please treasure those eyes I gave you… I want you to enjoy your life with Inoo with smiles and not tears.
If you cry, I’ll know because those are my eyes! So, you better not waste my precious tears Yuya or I’ll haunt you.
Thank you for being there for me Yuya, I’m glad you’re not alone and that you’re with Inoo… At least this way I can rest peacefully knowing that someone will be looking after your stupid self.
There’s so much more I want to tell you Yuya but my time is limited, so I’ll just tell you what I kept hidden for a long time deep in my heart…
Takaki Yuya I love you… I love you so so much…
Please don’t forget that someone besides Inoo loves you a lot too…

Yuya noticed the tear marks on the paper, he was so sure that Daiki the cry baby must have been bawling whilst writing to him. Yuya clutched the letter to his chest as he started to cry into his boyfriend’s chest.
“Dai-chan… Dai-chan” cried Yuya
Inoo did nothing but let the boy cry as he himself cried not only for Yuya but also for Daiki. That day they had lost a precious friend and they were all heart broken.

A few years later Yuya found himself in a dark suit as he stood by a grave, smiling to himself Yuya placed a picture frame and flowers.
“I hate you for leaving us early” said Yuya “But thank you, I may not have loved you as you have loved me, but you’re important to me… You were my best friend”
Yuya felt the cold wind wrap around him before he heard his name being called, turning around he saw Inoo walking towards him. Grabbing Inoo’s hand their newly polished ring glistened in the sun as the two of them walked away, not noticing the faint figure that watched them leave before silently disappearing whilst he whispered along with the wind.
“Take care Yuyan… Be happy with Kei”
