[Terezi is an excellent student, according to herself. She has always been a diligent learner. After all, nobody else knows Alternian law as well as she does, and she might go so far as to say that she may just be the only troll who has mastered all 413 noose-tying techniques. Not to brag or anything. Just saying

Terezi remains hidden inside her box, going very still.]

*It's a cardboard box, though. And she needs one for her assignment.

And nobody is around to claim it. So Kanaya's just sort of... discreetly wandering closer.* Why would someone allow Terezi to deface a perfectly nice cubic container?

[foretastes]

['it's not defacing!!!' Terezi wants to yell, but she doesn't. she must remain perfectly still and silent.

the box does not move.]

*She looks around. Nobody waiting, nobody looking. She could take this box and nobody would notice.

But maybe it belongs to somebody and they've forgotten it out here? In which case she'd be stealing, and that doesn't sit right with her. Of course, that doesn't mean she can't take it and store it for safekeeping, after all. If this is somebody's, and they'd forgotten it, they would surely be brokenhearted when they discovered its absence. And she had discussed how fragile these boxes were when wet, so if the area around them became significantly endampened (like, say, with a flash flood or maybe just rain) then its integrity would be in jeopardy.

So clearly the option here would be to take this box for safekeeping until its owner could be located. And if nobody claimed it, she'd have finished her assignment.

Yes. She could see no other possible outcome.

So she reached down to grab the box's sides and lift it.*

damn this box is heavy. it weighs, coincidentally, about as much as Terezi does.]

Oof-- *A distinctly ungraceful sound as she tries to lift the box, and promptly puts it back down because damn that's heavy.* ...hm. That's mildly perplexing.

I had not expected cardboard to be so voluminous.

[Terezi begins to wiggle around inside for the hell of it, because Kanaya's reactions are pretty amusing.]
