[Welp. For today, Karkat has taken his turn at the milk. In this case, it happens to have been the special milk.
He knows he wasn't supposed to go wandering off. He doesn't remember who told him not to, but he only just remembered that there was something wrong with him today. He was sick or something. That didn't change the fact that he had to go out and buy more groceries for the family, though, so he'd gone to do exactly that, and then had somehow gotten distracted along the way.
There's a girl on the steps who he knows is Terezi. Terezi isn't here, he knows that, too, but he's seen a lot of things today. It's not really a surprise to him that she's sitting there.
He's trying to focus his mind because he knows there's a reason why he should, but it's a little difficult, so he just walks over, sits next to her, and puts an arm around her shoulders.]
Terezi's already feeling vulnerable about her sightlessness and still utterly confused by the state of things even though she's talked to a few rational people so far, so she reacts in an utterly spooked way. not that it's obvious- she keeps grinning and gives a high, cheerful laugh.]
That's a strange way to answer a question!
[she proceeds to try to shove the arm off, but her movements are clumsy because she can't see what she's reaching for.]
[He isn't really in the right frame of mind to appreciate that he just really skeeved her out, but he'll let his arm be shoved off without any protest.]
It's kind of funny that they'd make your hair like that. It's like they're taking requests, only I don't remember them asking what type of human I wanted to look like. Isn't that weird?
[after patting her assailant's arm back into place Terezi sort of goes still because she knows Karkat's voice. and then she's immediately reaching for that arm again and squeezing it tight as if she thinks that she might be able to squeeze hard enough to smell the blood beneath it and then she'll be able to see again.]
Karkat! I've been trying to get a hold of you for-- ...You're... What are you talking about?
[...okay it's fine this time. she leans into the hug even though she's taken aback by it, just glad to know that Vriska hasn't gotten to him too. for all of her bravado, she had been a little worried.]
Who? Karkat, you wouldn't believe all the evidence I gathered! Vriska totally lost it. She went on a complete rampage!
Yeah, I know. Poor Tavros. I just wish I'd fucking done something about her, you know? Everything got so fucked up.
[If she could see the look on his face, she would probably know there was something very wrong with him. As it is, he sounds sad, but something in his tone is very far away, as though he was describing something someone else had done.]
It's okay. [even if she hasn't got her dragon sight, she can still sense when there's something wrong with Karkat, and as a whole his behavior's been a little off. after all, she knows he'd never approach her and just try to put his arm around her like that.]
Lots of things. Let's not talk about them right now. Just know that everything that can be terrible is terrible.
Do you ever wonder about how if there are infinite timelines, somewhere out there there's a timeline where everything went right? But it's not the Alpha Timeline, so as soon as they finish getting everything right, they're all going to die.
[her expression flickers and grows a little dark. she can't see Karkat's face at all but something is very wrong. her hands fumble about until she can touch his face and she wishes she could meet his eyes and see just what's wrong. why is he talking like this? why now?]
Why would I dwell on that? Why would you? I don't care if you don't want to talk about what's wrong! I do.

Let's talk about Eridan. He completely flipped his shit and killed Feferi and Kanaya. That's probably what I meant before.

[but she'd had her doubts. it didn't make much sense...]

[He knows there's something important he hasn't told her yet. He thinks he knows what it is.]
Don't talk too loudly about it, the horrorterrors are waiting to devour us if we say one wrong thing.

What the hell, Karkat? Did you hit your head and knock your sponge loose? Jeeeegus, you're talking more paranoid nonsense than usual!

I'm kind of fucked up today. There's a reason, but I forget.
