After the cut are pictures of my attempts at growing vegetables. This year I am experimenting with three different types of containers for the vegetables - Regular pots, Earth Boxes, and Topsy Turvy containers. We'll see which works best, which may mean which ever plant stays alive the longest. :)
In this first picture, the front two containers are the earth boxes. The left one has a mesclun mix of loose leaf lettuces. The right one has a number of green beans, one bell pepper, and a cucumber plant. There are two jade plants behind the earth boxes. To the left of them is a pot of snap peas. To the right of the jade are two tomato plants and a pot with some zucchini plants in it.
These are the two Topsy Turvy containers. The left one has cucumbers in it, but they don't appear to be doing too well. The right one has cherry tomatoes, and that is doing fabulous. But, it is not growing down like the pictures show. As you can see, it is growing upwards, and the stem, well MG says it is as strong as rebar.
The only plant I actually put in the ground is a rosemary bush. I am hoping it makes it. It's my fourth attempt at this house to grow rosemary. On the right is a pot too small for the three cucumber plants in it. I am going to have to transplant them soon. I just don't have another large pot yet.
My first two tomatoes. There's actually a third one there too. So far, this is a huge improvement over last year as these tomatoes are from the first flowers on the plant. Last year I only got five tomatoes the entire season. (Maybe the fact that I'm watering them this year is helping.)
