...or the Gardening Board as the case may be. Apparently I had too much water in the tray with the veggies and got a fuzzy growth from the peas which expanded and mold on more of the peat pods... so we pitched most of the veggie tray and will be starting over.
Bought more seeds today, some more of the assorted lettuce and organic seed mixes to replace the peas, bell peppers, adding organic Brandywine Red Tomatoes and maybe adding a baby watermelon or two to the mix and
Jiffy Pots. May end up using some egg cartons to start seeds before putting them in the pots... we'll see?
fullauto may want to shoot me since I don't know if we'll have room for all of this, but time will tell.
I'm thinking of planting some of the lettuce in smaller planters and putting that up on our small balcony instead of in the ground. Last year some critter got to the lettuce most of the time before I did. If it was a chipmunk, the balcony will help. If it was a squirrel, probably not so much, but we'll see? Could put a screen over the stuff on the balcony and plan to at least fence off the garden area, too... Good thing lettuce grows fast.
So... from the original seed planting effort, the marigolds have sprouted and seem to be doing ok. No petunias have sprouted yet. Saved some of the sprouted lettuce to see how that does in the veggie tray, but if it shows signs of mold, it goes, too.
