Got in 5 miles today... a bit other than planned. Got to the gym and went to start the iPod to listen to another podcast and it didn't start. It had the same problem a few weeks ago, so I think it's probably at the end of its useful lifecycle, but I'll let
fullauto work on it later in the week...
....so I read somewhere that if you're really serious about working out, you're not listening to an iPod anyway... and without the music or story for a distraction, I had a much greater incentive to finish the workout in a more expedient amount of time, so I did intervals that allowed me to finish in an hour. Not the fastest runner out there by a long shot, but it was a good challenging time for my current level of fitness and I can feel it a bit now.
It was interesting to motivate a higher intensity interval duration by focusing on continuing to run until a certain commercial finished or I got in a specific amount of minutes at that higher rate, lather, rinse, repeat.
I ended up with 101 miles that were accomplished at the gym with a combination of walking, jogging and running on the treadmill or the track upstairs. Reviewing the list there, I probably could have counted bellydancing toward additional miles or miles walked outside of the gym, but my goal was focused around counting intentional miles and I met it. Tomorrow I'll be ordering myself some things from the
Cherry Republic as a reward... and in honor of National Cherry Month (or so they say). Lots of good specials being offered... including a 5 pound box of cherries for $45 instead of $59... that might hold me for a little while :)
