Just a quick note to say that I have a consultation with an ophthalmologist who specializes in eye disorders, including keratoconus, this coming week at
The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, which is
ranked second in the country by U.S. News. We shall see what he says.
Whatever the outcome of this consultation, I am fortunate to be in the same vicinity as this place and to have a friend who will be driving me to my appointment and back (as it's unfortunately not easily accessible by public transport). It's the little things.

In related news, I am currently trying to find an anti-glare cover for my laptop screen. When I got my laptop (a Dell Studio XPS 16) I was surprised and chagrined to see it has a highly glossy screen, and have been irked by it ever since, as it really, totally sucks. I don't even understand why they make it, since in anything but a dark room you can see your reflection in the screen. Why do that? WHY? (In retrospect, maybe I should have tried to return it for a different computer? But for all I know they all have this now, and anyway I had been without a computer for several weeks by then and was in desperate need of it.)
I've been meaning to get an anti-glare cover for awhile, but was spurred into looking for real when my optometrist told me that reducing glare is one of the things I can do to help with the eye strain and headaches that come with keratoconus. Problem is, I am not really finding a good product here.
So: anyone have ANY tips or recommendations for a good anti-glare laptop cover, 16" (on the diagonal) screen size?
P.S. I've also been told that I should have an anti-glare and LCD TV, too, instead of the old one I've got now. Since talking to my doc, I've realized that the deteriorating eyesight is definitely one reason I've gradually started watching more on my computer than on my TV - both because I can sit closer to the screen to see better, and because the LCD makes it better to watch. Now if only it were glare-free. And/or I could afford a new TV. *sigh* (I know, I know - first world problems.)
