Coraline and other fun things (including some BIG NEWS about my sister)

vwlphb and I went to see Coraline IN 3-D yesterday, and it was totally awesome. I think that's actually the first movie I've seen in 3-D on the big screen, although vwlphb has seen several. ( Here's a Coraline trailer I linked before in case you haven't seen any already.)

Coraline sounds so great. I haven't read the book yet either, but I'm planing to get to it before the movie comes out over here in May.

By the way, I meant to ask you if you know whether you guys in the US will have any chance to see Terry Pratchett's documentary on living with alzheimer's? Because if not I could upload it for you if you'd like to see it.

So, here you go: Terry Pratchett's Living with Alzheimer's Ep. 1 and 2

Because those files are totally huge I had to split them into 7 parts each, to join them again you'll need to use hjsplit, which I uploaded for you here.
Just save all the parts to the same folder and select the first part in hjsplit.

It's a great documentary, really interesting and informative.

Hey, are these going to be up for a bit? I'm having computer problems right now with space, so I'm trying to figure out how to transfer these to a disc successfully. :)

If mediafire doesn't delete them they're not going anywhere. : )

I hope that works out somehow, I dunno if you can join them with hjsplit when they're already on the disc, but I don't think they'll play when they're still in upload friendly bite-sized bits.

OH NOOOOOES. OK, so I got the files, and put together part 1, and I can HEAR it but not SEE it, and it's making me SO SAD. Especially hearing Rob but not seeing him. My big bro!

Um, so the question is - am I doing something wrong? Did it work fine as a video for you? I don't know what I did wrong!

I had no problems viewing it at all, did you check if maybe a video codec is missing or something?

Hrm. Is that, like, a part of my video viewing program I might be missing? That could be it. What program did you originally view them in?

Yeah, that's it. I mostly just use Windows Media Player, actually, because while that may not include all codecs, it's all helpful and directs you to nice, safe, microsoft approved sites when a codec should be missing.
But I hear the free VLC media player is supposed to be quite good, and apparently provides the most common codecs from the start.

OK, I'm going to give that a try. Windows Media Player is what I opened it in originally, where I could hear it but not see it. I think I may have inadevertently removed some essential thing myself recently when I was trying to clean out my computer. *sigh* My computer is really old and getting way, way slow. I'm worried about it. :(

I hope that works out now, because otherwise I have no idea what the problem could be. ;(
And I feel for you and your computer, mine's been giving me signs that it might be slowly dying as well recently. o_o
