My goodness, I think there is a lot I have to talk about. It's been a harrowing few days.
Monday I called a coworker who asked me to work for him until after a dental appointment on February 8th. It was only going to be from 07:00 to around 11:00. Well, he told me in the phone call that he was going to take the whole day off now and thus I would have to work until 14:00. Which I can't do. So I had to tell my boss and he got my relief driver to come in an hour early. About an hour later my boss calls again and asks if I can take over right this second for another coworker who is sick. So. I wound up working 15:30 until 22:45 Monday night and then had to come back in at 07:00 on Tuesday and work until 13:00. NOT FUN. I was so cranky and stressed about this. I know I agreed to help but still... that coworker who asked if I would work for him on Tuesday was pretty rude about just changing his mind like that.
I am so sick of driving. Anything past 6 hours is so fucking taxing. AND I still have my OWN shifts to do this damn week. Nearly 9 hours of driving on Thursday and Friday. Frick. But no more. I cannot accept any more hours, that's it. I mean, maybe once and awhile perhaps... depends... but I'm going to have to learn how to say no.
Because... I need to pack! I was stressed out about these hours I agreed to work because it took away time that I need to get my stuff in order.
Now here's the important, wonderful thing. :-) I sent my visa application off! Monday, before all this work shit went down, I received the mail I was waiting on from David so I hurriedly put the entire file in order (and I did take a picture so I'll try and post that later) and went off to the post office to send it Express mail so it would arrive ASAP. It was received at 11:52 in Los Angeles, CA on February 8, 2011.
Today David and I received an email saying they have received it and will begin work on it. They will notify us of their decision by email. Fingers crossed!!!!!
I did start packing, although not by a whole lot yet. I did spend 5 hours in the basement yesterday working my way through stuff. I really got into stuff and amassed huge piles of stuff to donate, or perhaps sell at a garage sale, and trash. I have only packed two boxes so far, but it's going to start going quick now that I have more stuff organised and ready to go. In some ways I don't have a lot of stuff so this is good. But in other ways... the stuff I have is delicate and I worry about the trip it will have to go through and just hoping I have packed everything as best I can.
Moving supplies are so damn expensive. I just spent almost 2 hours shredding a bunch of paper because 1) it needs to be done and 2) it serves as free packing material. So that helps.
It's been cold and awful here again and I was really pissed that I agreed to cover my coworker's shift on Tuesday. It was so miserable that day, and icy. I started off the day by falling on ice. However, after my shift since I was out anyway I went to Uhaul and bought some boxes. I had no idea what I needed so I got 10 medium boxes and 10 large boxes. I'll keep maybe 2 of the large ones but I need to take them back... they are too large for my needs. I need to get smaller boxes for my books. And I need to suck it up and make sure I use as much bubble wrap as I need, damn the costs. I need my stuff to arrive in one piece!
David and I have been talking about how to rearrange the house when I move in and I'm really, really pleased about the plans we've come up with. This place is really going to be my home! :-D I love him so much!!
P.S. I was called "sir" 5 times on Tuesday since my hair was tucked up into a ski hat and I was wearing my thick, winter work coat. That and given I am the only girl these people have better odds that it will be a male driving. But I did find it comical.
And I'm cheesed... I have to go back and have my teeth checked again and worked on again, I'm sure. VERY ANNOYING. I tried to get my car fixed and it's still making a noise... I tried to get my teeth fixed and now they're still buggered up... I hate this!
