Monday: first time back at the Celtic Dance Society for a month. Had a ton of fun.
Tuesday: went to dinner at Bali Satay with members of the CDS. ‘twas my first time eating Indian cuisine (my verdict: the meal I ate was excellent). We had a pleasant evening; dinner began with a series of Monty Python quotes, and then we got down to the business of discussing leadership of the organization next year since so many of the senior members are graduating and moving away. I’m very likely going to end up as an officer on Monday when we do elections. We brainstormed promotional ideas, and generally came up with a good set of things to do for next year.
Wednesday: bought Slaughterhouse Five and began reading it. Very interesting so far.
Today: played a lot of World of Warcraft, and went to a lecture by a visiting professor about French philosophers and television. Decided that I definitely want to study the French language after seeing Dr. Matheson’s lecture (which I’d wanted to do before the lecture, but it reminded me that I need to look into it). After the lecture I thanked Dr. Matheson for coming to ISU, and we ended up having a brief conversation about my plans for graduate school; Dr. Matheson got my name and said that I should contact her when I’m looking into graduate programs. Conclusion: I went to the lecture because it looked interesting and was recommended by my favorite professor, and came away with a possible important contact from France. Conclusion: today kicked ass.
