The Cherokee Nation voted to state catagorically that only people who are by blood Cherokee and registered on the 1906 Daws rolls are Cherokee. This precludes the slaves that the Cherokee owned that were freed by the Civil War. There are 1000s of mixed blood Freedmen that ARE part of the tribe because they have Cherokee tribal ancestors. Yet the spinners are trying to state that it is racist of the Cherokee to not include the decendents of those freed slaves.

This is part and parcel with the Reparations for the Decendents of Slaves movement. My issue is that up until Indian Gaming no one was fighting to get ONTO the reservation. When you are the poor relations by marriage no one knows you but the day you hit the lottery suddenly you owe them????

How about during the 1950's during the years of the forced sterilization of American Indian women? Where were the new tribal recruits then???

Okay, dammit, yes I do. I so have words. What the hell are they thinking? Never mind - rhetorical question. I know what they are thinking. It's okay to be a sovereign Indian Nation until you reach a certain profit point. By then, you've set up all your services and businesses and the government will happy to take over. It's okay to be indigenous as long as you're too broke to stand on your own feet. Bull shit. Or as I prefer to call it, Bush shit. I don't know what the next reign of terror will bring, but at least this one will be over. How many more months do we have to endure?

This one isn't part of the Bush issue. This bill was introduced by CALIFORNIA Congress Woman Diane Watson. An African American person. This issue is about Slavery Reperations.

This administration has made enough stoopit and loco moves that the rest of Congress thinks it's okay.

A Californian thought this one up? I realize that I live behind the Orange Curtain, but I have high hopes that the rest of the state is a bit more temperate. Did she do her research first? What's her record on other issues. Okay, I'll go find out for myself -grin-
