Abandoned!

In a cream tea place in Cornwall!  What a fate!  I stopped posting because I wanted to put in web links. I suck.  We did actually finish our walk and it was stellar.  We spent a night at Jamaica Inn, which was definitely haunt-worthy, though we didn't see any ghosts. We were in the newer part of the inn, though.  The village, all six or so houses, had a war memorial with many more names than there were people left there. All around was the bleak moor.  It was election day in England  - the polling station was an ancient stone shed, well, maybe barn. Small and haunted looking.

We walked Bodmin Moor and saw wild ponies, one a new-born, we visited a great house, we visited a really cool eco-centre, and we walked the coast path some more.  We went to a May celebration in which the whole town participated, and we found a couple places that we plan to buy as soon as we win the LottoMax.

I miss Cornwall.

NS and I returned to Bonfield at the end of May.  the first weekend we were back our local SCA group was hosting a Crown tournament on our land - so neat, an event we didn't have to do anything about except walk out to the field and enjoy the good company!

NS' sabbatical finished in July and he was pretty busy getting ready for school and wrapping up the sabbatical projects.  I was just busy setting back in.

I brought my little horse, Fritz's colt Becket, up north to finish his training and to be mine. He likes being a northern horse.

And I got started on some essential work in the house - replacing the floors in the front hall and the living room. Well, not I myself - I got a contractor.  He was part of our lives right up until Christmas!

Of course there was Pennsic and Baron's Howe, always a good time.  I started back at Nip. U., aiming in a desultory fashion for an Honours degree.  I took third year Latin, reading Sallust's Bellum Catalinae with one other student. It was really fun.

In reading week the family plus one (Kes_zone)  went on a luxurious holiday to Beaches in Turks and Caicos. It was a fabulous time and full of delightful first experiences for me. Hard to pick the best "First time".
Was it having butler service at an all-inclusive resort?  Or para-sailing with my grand-daughter on my birthday?  Or snorkelling? or sailing a hobie cat by myself? or riding along a beach and in the water?

I miss TCI!
