It was easy enough to get them to the entrance to the caves. Without knowing where exactly the wizards are, Mendanbar didn't want to risk actually going into the caves -- landing on top on one of them, while it might be momentarily satisfying, would probably cause rather a lot of problems.
The area around the entrance is dead and brown and magicless, and Mendanbar scowls as they make their way into the tunnel leading to the cave.
Mendanbar is a pretty easy going person, generally, but there are things up with which he will not put. And dragon-napping, Forest-draining, magic-breaking, meddlesome wizards are definitely on that list.
