This world is dying.

During the substantial pause, you can mostly only hear the pitter-patter(-fizz?) of rain outside. ]I should be the last person to chastise someone for wishing to bring back something beautiful and beloved, but ( Read more... )

...I think we might be seeing those consequences.

[A long-ish pause.]

It was a gift to meet them at all, though. At least they've given us that.

[ smiles, briefly ] It was, at that.

I don't know if it's right of me to hope to see them again, but perhaps it shouldn't be necessary. I should simply be glad for what we had.

I think it's only human to hope for things beyond our grasp.

You're right, of course. At any rate, it's probably less vain than my hope that the Scientists will suddenly realize that the path their on may not lead to where they wish to go.

At this point, I'm beginning to think that they must care much less about the journey than the destination. Which would make their arrival elsewhere that much more upsetting.

This is why you should not travel while drunk or blindfolded, Eriol.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Have you tested this theory? I can't quite remember.

Don't you think there's a reason for that?

That you wanted to save the story for the possibility of our meeting?

It can be difficult, preparing for even such incredibly unlikely possibilities. The same day I thought of that, I also made preparations for a stampeding herd of pink elephants to come crashing through my home and destroy everything.

You had so much to prepare for it's a wonder anything got done.

Still, it makes me wonder exactly how inebriated you were that day.

When I left, there weren't any pink elephants. I shall be very upset with Ruby Moon if I return and she's let them in.

I daresay it is!

There is no need for me to disclose that information at this time.

If only you had been more prepared, you wouldn't need to worry about these things.~

Not enough hours in the day, are there?

I know what that translates to.

We can't all be as well prepared as you, I'm afraid.

Never, or so it seems.

I withhold comment.

What a shame.~

Except here, where it sometimes feels like there are too many.

You don't need to comment.

It is a great tragedy.

If only I could bottle up some of the hours I am forced to spend here and put them at other points in my life where they could have been of more use.

There is no need to be ashamed, I'm sure.

I weep for you and yours.
