i've been vegan for a little less than a year, but vegetarian for a while. Dustin, my boyfriend/partner in crime, has been vegan for nearly three years. In November, we had a lot of slip-ups (we started eating out a lot, and not being so strict about making sure the "veggie" burgers were vegan and if the sauce had cheese, and we actually reached a low point and bought cheese sticks), but we're on track again for the most part.
i'm a pretty good housemate usually. i respect people's personal space and lifestyle choices (except i cannot live with anyone who does hard drugs or binge drinks a lot. and the whole vegan thing. i wouldn't mind if a person wasn't vegan as long as they kept their non-vegan stuff outside of the house fridge), but i go through periods of intense laziness (as in, heyyyy the dishes can wait a couple days) and then intense periods of productivity (as in, heyyyy let's bake a trillion cookies and start composting!), but overall, i think i'm pretty awesome to live with. i smell pretty bad most days too. i'm also really flexible and laid back and don't really care what others do. i mean, if you want to have raging house parties, as long as the cops don't show up, people don't get hurt or die, and everything's cool, i can through in my ipod or earplugs if i have to wake up the next day. i'd like to pay as little rent possible because i'd like to work as little as possible. hmm. what else, i have tons of books and actually own a uke but suck at playing, so you'd be perfect.
if you're super serious about this, you can come visit us the last month we live in greensburg (its like 40 minutes away from pittsburgh) and we can search for a house. i'd really like to have some land for a garden or something, but i don't know how feasible that is at this point.
that would be awesome though, because i hate to do a general roommate search because i'm afraid i'd get stuck with a hardcore christian conservative or something that is mean and grouchy all the time. i'd rather not just have someone to split rent with but more of a family/community type house, if that makes sense.
