Much to Miss Schbeiker's sadness, we have returned to Earth. Any plots to turn my birthday into a huge, drawn-out affair on the colony (although very sweet) have fallen prey to the neccessity that it be a huge, drawn-out affair on Earth. For that I can thank the Cinq Kingdom ministers.
It isn't much to acquiesce; after all, I give them so little sway over everything else that a birthday party is positively trivial in trade.
I simply hope that nothing happens this year. My birthday seems to have become rather symbolic to terrorist groups in much the same fashion as Christmas Eve. By rights it ought to be -today- that is the symbolic date, but an official's birthday is easier to remember, I suppose.
Noin assures me that "no one will get past security," seeing as half the Preventer staff is sure to be in attendance, and that cheers me somewhat as well as saddens me. It will be such an inconvenience to so many people to keep the party safe, and those people might spend the duration of the party staring at a bush.
I hope Noin puts everyone in shifts so the Preventer agents can come in and have some of the food. Chefs Julienne, Lionello, and Carapisce always try to outdo themselves with each added year.
Although I do enjoy celebrations, I'm afraid I'm not very enthusiastic about my own birthday. It's always been a rather stiff, formal affair, and more solemn than celebratory. I'd much rather have a small surprise.
I got a small surprise once; I'd completely forgotten my own birthday amid all the post-war fuss, but someone else remembered.
It was the nicest gift I've ever gotten.
Signed,
Relena Dorlian-Peacecraft
