Are you good enough to go to heaven?

Most people would say that they were pretty good people. Maybe you have never done anything too bad. Well, lets look at God's perfect law...The 10 Commandments. Have you ever lied before? Have you ever stolen before? Have you ever committed adultery? The Bible says that if a man looks lustfully at a woman, he commits adultery in his heart (this goes the same for women). Have you ever looked with lust? Have you always honored your parents? The Bible also says that if you hate someone in your heart it is the same as murdering them. Have you ever hated someone?

These are only a few of the 10 Commandments, but if you have broken even one at some point in your life you stand guilty before God. We will all stand before God one day when we die. Would you be guilty or innocent on the day of judgment?

Many would say, "well God is a forgiving and loving God. I wasn't that bad. He will overlook my little sin." That is not so. God is a perfect judge. He MUST punish you for your sin. It is the same for a court room here on earth. If you have broken the law, you MUST be punished. Say you stole someones car and you had to stand before the judge. No matter how much you begged for forgivness from that judge, he would have to punish you or he would not be a good judge. He would not be doing his job. God would not be a perfect judge if He did not punish us for our sin. So, what is our punishment?

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Our punishment for sin is eternal seperation from God in hell. We deserve death for our sin. Going back to the earthly courtroom, what would you say if someone came up to the judge and said that they would pay your fine and do your jail time for you? You would probably say "YES! If you want to do that for me then sure, I would accept your sacrifice."

Well, that is exactly what Jesus Christ offers us. He offers to pay our fine for us. He was perfect yet He chose to put our sin upon Himself, die, and rise again....for us! All we must do is accept His payment! Without Christ, our destiny is separation from God and Eternity in hell. With Christ, our destiny is intimacy with God and eternity in His presence!

John 14:6 "I am the way, the Truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Has there ever been a time in your life where you have accepted Jesus Christ's  payment for your sin? If not, remember that we are not promised tommorow. You never know when you will die and stand before God. After death, it is too late. We must choose Him NOW! If you have accepted His payment, know that when we accept His payment, He becomes the Lord of our lives. Lord conotates obedience. We are to walk in obedience to Him all the days of our lives. What a joy it is to walk in obedience to my Jesus!
