Honky-Hop

Jun 06, 2007 11:50

So I've had this idea for a California Country Rock / Honky-Hop song for the past few months, but haven't gotten around to working it all out. It's gonna be a twinkling piano keys, Loggins & Messina style thing, I think. Maybe I'll try to sketch out the keyboard part and see if Mel will record it for me. In any case, here are the first two verses:

Chicken Fried Chicken

VERSE 1:
Well, I got a gal who's nine feet tall
Sleeps in the kitchen with her feet in the hall
She got a foot-long jaw and a 10-inch maw
She likes her chicken fried chicken with potatoes and slaw
She do the banjo tango to Cotton-Eyed Joe
Be the sweetest damn thing you ever seen before
Play some Lay Down Sally, play some Shady Grove
She likes her chicken fried chicken with some chicken fried pickin'

CHORUS:
That girl can sure eat some chicken fried chicken
All the chicken fried chicken you can make
Chicken fried chicken make the people go "yeah!"
With a side of chicken fried steak

That girl can sure eat some chicken fried chicken
All the chicken fried chicken you can make
Chicken fried chicken bumpa-bumpa-bow-bow
With a chicken fried side of chicken fried steak
With a side of chicken fried chicken fried steak

VERSE 2:
Well, I know a girl, her name is Brown
Moved from North Kakalacky to New York Town
Smokes burly tabaccy in her ball gown now
Ev'ry evening dreams of chicken fried chicken by the pound
She do the banjo tango to Tupelo Honey
Lord, ain't got no money but come lay some of that on me, honey
Ya ain't the only one who likes a bit of pickin'
So come on with me and get some of that chicken fried chicken

CHORUS!
