Saturday brought on a flurry of activity here in Washington for myself. I received an e-mail from my old base, Yokota Air Base, in Tokyo. The local weather unit had an emergency opening for this fall, and I was the first person registered globally as a volunteer for assignments there.
Hence, the future Sergeant Jenkins will report for duty once again to the Far Eastern theater shortly after the summer ends. 2 years minimum, lest I choose to extend; I won't say I wouldn't like the extra cash, but I am not sure how I will feel and how the Air Force/the world will be in a few years.
I plan to return to this area as a civilian once I finish my military career so I can complete my degree at the University of Washington. This change in assignment simply means I will be completing my Associate's first, and then I will see if I can invest my time in learning gardening/flower arranging from a local person on or off-base. "College University" learnin' will take a break while I'm abroad, but I will keep expanding my skills so I can be a kick-ass samurai florist! Boo-yah!!
