Tha Boyz' Christmas Party
Friday 15 December was Tha Boyz’ Christmas party at the Brunswick Hotel. I really wanted to go the moment I heard about it but we were scheduled to have our work Christmas party that night, which meant I had no chance of making it down there. Then the party was cancelled and there was no way I wasn’t heading down!
I went on my own (Miss Teacher couldn’t come because she had her school break up that day and was fairly certain she wouldn’t be in any condition to go out lol). But Toyota Man (formerly known as Mitsubishi Man - he’s changed companies) and his girlfriend, Miss HR, were keen to meet me out. I knew there’d be faces there I knew, but had they not said that they’d come along, I might not have gone - I can handle Friday’s and ScuBar on my own, but going to Brisbane to sit on my own (knowingly) was a bit much. The weather wasn’t completely friendly on the drive down, lightening crashing pretty close to the side of the highway and rain, but it was fine in Brisbane once I was there.
I got there before Toyota Man and Miss HR, but I walked in to find a welcoming crowd of Mr and Mrs Musician, Mr and Mrs Producer and Drummer Man. It was a pretty quiet night (though some of the usual faces were there), and it was a good chill-out. Toyota Man and Miss HR stayed as late as they could, but left before Tha Boyz finished. I wasn’t left on my own though because there was an old friend of Tha Boyz that I’m also friends with and we kept each other company - I ended up dropping her home after the gig too.
After the usual post-gig chat, I left for the drive home, thankfully in much better weather this time. Noone dressed up as Santa (as had been promised!), but it was good fun.
