In my last entry, I mentioned the one aspect in which BLM can be supported. I pulled from the Jefferson "tree of liberty" quote ( Read more... )

Think of it like this, IF what they were saying were true, IF the police shot black people for kicks, IF blacks were systematically oppressed, etcetera, what THEN would be the appropriate response? How would they be advised to go about changing it?

A fair question that admits of many answers. Much hinges on a correct reading of the facts and the big picture, and a clear idea of the goal.

The first place they should look would be to MLK Jr's largely successful nonviolent movement, because less bloodshed is better if your ultimate goal is peaceful and just coexistence, and the American people are no less inclined to a peaceable solution than they were fifty years ago.

Perhaps I am wrong to assume that peaceful coexistence is indeed their goal. If it is instead conquest and vengeance, then their best contemporary models are al-Qaeda and Islamic State. Blacks have greater numbers than Muslims, great enough to start taking territory and projecting force, if there were sufficient motivation and leadership to rally them. However, in reality, the injustices claimed by BLM are not nearly bad enough and BLM is not nearly capable enough to make that happen.

But it doesn't seem to me that either of those goals is achieved by positioning themselves as an edgy and chic but ultimately unserious fifth column. That would be a great plan if you wanted to win social influence and ultimately votes -- which suggests your theory of BLM as just another storefront for the same old (white) leftist power brokers.

Yes, but again, we're taking a much larger view than the protesters themselves likely are.

I think that they are most likely (in their own minds) trying to "raise awareness". Their actions are specifically targeted at making headlines, rather than at making changes. Which is interesting, because it *exclusively* means that they are fundamentally JUST out there campaigning for cultural marxism, rather than either trying to solve the problems (which they would do by working within their own communities), OR trying to break away (which they would do by defending cordons). The insanity they are performing is their way of "working within the system", and they're JUST misguided enough to think this road goes somewhere beneficial.

And it's sort of understandable that they would believe that. Look at most of the rhetoric that comes out of the mouth of Bernie Sanders, or Lena Dunham, and it will become pretty clear why they believe what they believe. Because it's the only thing they have ever been told.

Given that, it's *reasonable* that BLM is acting the way they act, given that the world is the way it's been described to them. In fact, it's a kinda halfway restrained reaction.

Which, again, means that OUR anger should be directed, not at the ignorant children picketting shopping malls, but instead, at the true evil in this equation, at the leftist elites, their lapdog media, and the venal leadership.
