New Anime
Spring is here and a lot of new anime are coming out. So here's a list of what I've watched so far and what I think of them. ^_^
First up, here's the list of things I watched, really enjoyed and intend to follow!
Nabari no Ou
Nabari no Ou is about ninjas in a modern day setting. Rokujou Miharu has a hidden technique living inside of him that grants the power to change the world. Obviously, this is a highly sought after power so he's targeted by ninjas. Luckily, a kid from his class and his English teacher are also ninjas who want to help him out. They try to get him to join their ninja club and get continual rejection. Miharu fake flirts with the teacher and embarrasses the crap out of him. It's funny XD I like the style and the animation is nice. I'm definitely going to follow this one. It's got a bit of humor, some cuteness, and promises lots of action.
Soul Eater
Soul Eater is about a group of students called Weapon Meisters. They work with a human weapon and it's their goal to hunt down 99 bad souls and 1 witch's soul in order to power up their weapon so that it may become a Deathscythe (not the Gundam). It looks like we'll be following three groups, but so far, we've only been introduced to one. We meet Maka her partner Soul, who is also a scythe. She wields him in a very kickass manner. We find out that her stupid obsessive father is the Deathscythe used by the God of Death himself. Maka and Soul run into a little trouble with a witch and stuff happens. A little bit of silliness, a little bit of drama, and some action to kick it up a notch. It's good. There's humor, action, interesting character designs, and interesting other designs. I really like the voices. There's so much to like here.
Kamen no Maid Guy
As the title suggests, this anime is full of crack. Some rich grandfather hires some bodyguard maids for his last remaining heirs, Naeka and her maid loving brother. While her brother gets a pretty female maid, Naeka gets stuck with super beefy Maid Guy, Kogarashi. It's just...crack! Upon meeting her, he rips her clothes off and fusses at her for wearing a dirty smelly bra. To wake her up in the morning, after the 20 or so alarm clocks failed, he sticks a water hose down her ample bosom and turns it on. He tells her that he knows her exact weight and measurements because he has x-ray vision that he's using on her. It's perverted but...he may or may not be being a perv intentionally. Either way, the female maid eventually beats him with her nailbat to keep him in line. She then gives Naeka a whistle to control him and they end up catching him on fire. Have I mentioned that this is full of crack? It's so ridiculous I have to watch some more! XD
Special A
Special A is a rival story. A girl tried and tried to overcome a boy. It's mentioned that this is quite similar to His and Her Circumstances, but I haven't seen it. Anyway, Hikari was always the best at everything she did until Takashima came along. Ever since then she's been stuck in second place but never stops trying to overcome him! And he never stops being a complete ass to her. Maybe it's because he has a crush on her, maybe he's just a complete ass. Anyway, it's silly. There's a lot of silliness with giant hurdle jumping contests and girls who sing with super sonic voices. Oh yeah, the school's top students get separated from the rest of the school so that causes some interesting situations as well as some tension. I think it's cute, so I'll watch it. I like light and fluffy.
Here's the ones that I watched, but didn't really catch me, but I've decided to give them another try.
Bus Gamer
Meh. That's my feelings on Bus Gamer right now. Very meh. Already, I pegged the personalities and the two guys that'll be paired up. The animation is pretty, but that doesn't make up for how boring and annoying this episode was. You meet the guys and they're trying to be mysterious, well, except for the goofy blond who is just plain annoying. This episode really doesn't go anywhere. It shows us all how big businesses like to use the little guy for fun and profit and that these guys are tough shit, with the exception of the blond. They give us a lame flashback of back story probably meant to intrigue us but I just tsked in disgust. Apparently it won't have much time to redeem itself as it will only be 3 episodes long. Considering that this first episode didn't go anywhere, I don't know how that's going to work.
Kure-nai
I'm not sure what it's about really. There's a boy who...does stuff for some woman. Said women has liberated some mysterious child from her home. There's some crazy politics behind it and somehow the boy ends up becoming the bodyguard of the girl. That aside, I'm not too sure what's going on here. I'll watch the next ep anyway.
The last one was boring drek, but I knew that going in. I had my reasons!
Zettai Karen Children
I was looking through reviews and this one got an awful one. And truthfully, it was pretty awful and promises to continue being awful, but I had to watch it. Why? The review promised me a bad guy named "Muscle Okama" and here I must quote. "This Muscle Okama is presented as a gay man. He swishes, he talks in feminine language, he hits on Kouichi, he humps nude male statues. He also shoots bizarre psychic beams from his groin." Come on! I had to watch just for that. He shot out "Super Big Magnum" beams from his crotch. Bwa ha ha ha! As for the rest of the anime, it's the kids as a super powered crime fighting team. One of them is an obnoxious little pervert. She's literally a pervert drooling over boobs and girly magazines. She has no self control, thus is clumsy and destructive and flies off the handle and beats people. Charming. The other two girls are forgettable. They get a new "handler" who is gonna be the super nice guy and if the ending credits are anything to go by, they're going to fall in love with him as a father-like figure and live happily ever after. Gag me! It's just a big boring snoozefest.
So there's my list. But there's plenty more things that are coming out that I want to look into. I might have to make another list soon, but this is it for now.
