Weekend
This weekend has been eventful.
Friday night I saw Stevie Jay. It was an interesting performance, and he had some really great points that I thought were worth considering, though I didn't agree with everything he had to say. He gave a great performance.
Yesterday was the football game all day, we lost. I was tired, but I took a nap and got my ass up to go to usher at Ballet Flamenco, which was GREAT.
I think the reason that I find artists and performers so interesting and appealing, especially with dance, is the way they are able to use these clumsy bodies to express something so much greater than what we are usually spending our time thinking about. With dance, they are tapping into their inner being and expressing it outwardly and just totally using this body that is so often used to destroy others or ourselves through self-depricating acts. I don't know what I'm trying to say.. just that artists are able to use themselves for something higher, something that leaves behind primal instincts and desires and expresses.... soul? Yeah, that's it.
