Trouble Me [for Claire]

Jul 28, 2006 21:47

Considering his recent lapses in propriety, Qui-Gon would consider himself quite a fool to willfully seek out Claire again so relatively soon. Of course, he had been willfully a fool before, and this would hardly prove him any wiser. He rather thought it might prove many of Yoda's--and Mace Windu's--complaints against him, in fact, and he should hate to disappoint them even in spirit.

He had been thinking too much of her, since his conversation with Padme. He acknowledged that he might be thinking too much entirely, on matters over which he had no control, and over feelings that he could not and dared not elucidate anywhere but in the privacy of his own mind. Admittedly, he had no intention of making any confessions this evening, either. He merely wanted the welcome familiarity of her presence, even if they did not or could not hold to a topic of conversation. Comfortable silence would serve just as well between the two of them.

Thus he had made two cups of tea, slim excuse as that made for company, and he looked for her first in the clinic, despite the growing lateness of the hour. The desk in the adjoining room was empty, and he paused for a moment to consider where else she might be. He was not about to seek out her room, after all, but perhaps she was out in the garden.
