Guitars and Basses

I have a bottom end Spector with passive EMG's. Simple yet effective. Needs to go in for a tuneup. I also have a Schecter Omen from a couple of years ago. $300 with case new. Active pickups. Plays well and will thump. Has a sharp upper cut on the body at the point your arm goes across it which gets irritating. The new ones seem to have more of a bevel and roundness.

I have a Schecter C1+ guitar that I paid $200 for with case used. Not a Les Paul, but better than Epiphone for the money. The FrankenTele. Was a '73 Custom. Was not original when I got it so I've swapped the neck for a Warmoth Strat one with Sperzels. Seymore Duncan Hotrails in the lead. I've had this thing for over 20 years and have loved every minute of it.

Amps

Bass - SVT 4 Pro American Made. 6 x 10 Ampeg cab with classic silver face and cover. I got this from a guy that worked at SLM. The rig was a special model that was supposed to go on tour with someone. I could probably sell it for more than I paid which was $1200 for all of it.

Guitar - Mesa Boogie Nomad 55 w 4 x 10" Jensens. The clean is very Fenderesque and original considering the rare speaker setup. 3 channels with boost. So it can go from Fender clean to Boogie Crunch. Its a bit of a touchy bastard on volume, but for the whole package of versatility and quality I've not run across anything I'd rather have.

Other Stuff - Not much. I have a Boss ME - 50 and ME - 50B. Ideally you'd like to have a lot of one offs on a board, but for the cross point of ease of use, durability, etc., these two get the job done with no muss or fuss. They are complete tank pieces. I also like that they have stereo out.

Top Trick

The ME's have stereo out and I like to combo the Boogie with a bass amp in stereo. The sound takes a huge step with true stereo chorus. Right now I'm using a friends solid state Fender. used a Peavey TNT 300 for a while and that seemed best. Cheap solid states with a 15". When you start to play downtuned stuff it makes a huge difference in throwing out bottom end. I get a lot of tone and volume versatility between the 3 Boogie channels, its boost, and then the board and Stereo amp.

Wish List - Les Paul. I prefer the lighter Studio models. Music Man Stingray bass. Fender P Bass. After that it would be crazy stuff like a pair of Rickenbackers, 6 and 12 strings. Guy here has a David Eden Metro bass unit that is crazy good for the size with 2 x 10" and he's got it paired with an Ampeg 1 x 18" which just makes the bottom end ridiculous. I need a 15" or 18" for the SVT rig so that I can go stereo with crossover.

Heard a guy in Nashville using an Ashdown and it was amazing on the order of the Eden.
