It's about time you people started updating again. It was pretty depressing when Adam ruled Livejournal with an iron-fisted, code-speaking post for several days in a row. Don't you people know your posts are solely for my amusement?
Anyway, went to pick up the Firefly set. Was ten dollars short. Went to go see V for Vendetta instead.
In short, it was a pretty good movie. Pretty intense in some places, not entirely in a good way. It's sure as hell not a movie for kids, and it's not 'light' or 'soft' in the punches it throws, like the Matrix was (which it closely resembles). The movie clearly has a message, and it'll slam it home as hard as it can.
And despite what people might say, it's not an anti-Republican, anti-Bush, or anti-American film. It's an anti-McCarthy, anti-Stalin, anti-1984 movie, and the message is worth listening to. I don't think we're anywhere near that stage yet, but even if Bush isn't the anti-Christ, he still bears close watching, as does the rest of the government, and the world for that matter. That's what this film is really saying, and I'd recommend going just to be reminded of how bad things can get if you let other people speak for you for too long.
And Hugo Weaving is a pretty amazing actor. He really made V believable, despite the over-the-topness of the character.
