Grow Up and Move On :: Sporting v. Benfica Carlsberg Cup Final
Yeah I screamed when it showed up and I hurried to save it.
This match probably caused me to scream the most I have yet so far this season. They say that football is unpredicatable and I think that this match pretty much sums that up to be true. While I agree that the penalty wasn't an actual penalty as it was not a handball, I don't think that Sporting has the right to say that is why the lost. A team good enough to overcome a bad call would have won in that case. Pedro Silva was stupid for getting up in the Ref's face and causing the altercation and with that he in my mind, handed that goal to Benfica. Either way fair is fair and Sporting lost fair and square in the penalties. Quim was amazing in the shoot out and his saves were gorgeous. Tiago also was great in the match but what can I say? Tiago is an extrodinary keeper just like Quim so obviously he did a job in this match. Either way I'm a little upset at some of the Sporting fans actions after this match. Hanging around some of the Portuguese forums the words being thrown at Benfica supporters is just rude and nasty and I'm so sad that Sporting fans aren't holding their heads high and just moving on. Also I thought it was incredibly nasty of Pedro Silva to first not accept the medal and then to throw it. Absolutely rude. I don't care how angry you are it still wasn't the right thing to do and I still can't believe that he did it. Either way congrats to Benfica and all Benfica supporters! I was in there with you through the match and I'm quite happy to see the trophy being handed to someone new.
