Sanctuary Meta: John Druitt, Helen Magnus and the Whitechapel murders

This seems a topic Sanctuary fans from all over the net will never agree on, because mixing Sanctuary cannon along with real life events is sometimes hard to understand - especially given the fact that even RL has holes in the Ripper case. Though starting from a discussion on sanctuaryforall and couplechemistry’s discussion post (which she posted here also), I find myself wanting to clarify things from my own perspective. This post is written in respond to couplechemistry’s, so I’m using her questions to guide me through the whole thing.
