yes, yes. today is the anniversary of "9-11." And someone on my "friends list" posted a bulletin this morning stating the usual rhetoric of "we will not forget... greatest country in the world... blah.... blah....bablah blashalxdlsjdhdhdjsksldkfj...."
while i respect this person's emotions -- and because i still believe in the fruits of our first amendment -- i must say that what we should also "not forget" about this day in history are all the fallacies and, well basically, lies that proceeded to permeate public opinion shortly thereafter. September 11 not only killed thousands on its respective day, it has also resulted in the murder of hundreds of thousands of people during the last six years. And for what? Politics, Money, Facetious and Irrational Sentiments? All of the above?
Let's not forget, people, that our presidential administration so blatantly lied about links between Al Qaeda and Iraq, as well as there being "weapons of mass destruction" hidden under Hussein's living room (come on), in order to justify a war (even more devastating than 9-11) that many men and women are currently undergoing. Let's not forget that immediately following the events of 9-11 that our first and fourth amendment rights were (and still are) heavily infringed upon. Let's not forget how our country's leaders have used 9-11 in order to fill their already pussing pocket books (this is not radical liberal talk, btw, this is Halliburton -- do your own research) at the sacrifice of American and Iraqi lives -- and when I say "lives" here, I also mean "livelihoods." Let's not forget all the technical illegalities underlining the occupation of Iraq, and how poorly the media has fulfilled its role as an objective voice concerning them -- how it so stupidly went along with all the lies spewing from the white house without question or investigation. Let's not forget how even the CIA was behind all of this, and those agents who called it into question magically "disappeared" or had their identities revealed (Valerie Plame). Basically, let’s not forget how for too long the majority of the American people actually believed that we were in Iraq because of 9-11.
Let's not only forget the human lives that were lost on 9-11, but also the freedoms, integrity, virtues and basic morality that accompanied them.
