[private, hackable]

My family... The Oaks line have long been knights, but my father was the greatest of all. I wanted so badly to surpass him, to prove that I was every bit the knight he was. And after he and my elder brothers were killed in the war, while I sat safely at home, that girlhood dream became my life's goal.

It's strange. I should be ( Read more... )

I... don't know what to say, milady. Perhaps if your world was that bad, coming here was a blessing.

The more I remember of Ivalice, the less I can believe other worlds could be any different. This place... It's almost too perfect to be real.

I can't think of anything to the contrary. After my time with the Legion, according to Lord Eliwood, there was a civil war when I came here.

I truly wish I could refute your point.

The Legion? You did not tell me you had military training, milady.

Wait, what? All this time, I've never said a word to you about Lyndis's Legion?

No, milady, you haven't. Who is this Lyndis?

I... I'm sorry, milady. I did not mean for it to be a secret, I just felt I had already told you.

Lady Lyndis was a Caelin noblewoman. I know precious little about her, as she was both a noble, but her clothing and style of fighting placed her more as a Sacaen nomad. I'm still not sure why.

She was involved in an inheritance struggle with her... what did Lord Eliwood tell me... oh, her uncle, Lord Lundgren. Lundgren was currently occupying the throne, even though Lady Lyndis was the rightful heir.

I know not how we met or how I came to fight by her side, but I found myself in Lyndis's Legion. It was not a proper military by any stretch of the imagination, but I believe we were certainly more than mere mercenaries.

That's... quite brave of you, milady. They were quite lucky to have your magic at their service.

I would not be so sure of that, milady. I... the gaps are not filled yet, but I believe that is what happened on my training sabbatical, my first experience with practical magic. I would have been no more than a well-read novice at that point.

And yet you became quite the adept nonetheless. That alone speaks volumes of your skill, milady.

What I have seen of your power goes far beyond luck, Lady Erk.

Now, perhaps, but I cannot say the same for myself when I was barely fifteen.

A little over a year ago. A year and a half at most.
