Comments are love. :)
ONE. Natalie Maines Pasdar (Adrian’s wife).
She had been suspecting that her husband was cheating on her for a few weeks, but had kept on telling herself that she was just being paranoid. And then, one evening, while having dinner with some colleagues of Adrian’s, she looked at him leaning over and whispering in Milo’s ear something which made him smile. She saw the way her husband was looking at the younger man, the way he touched him, and she knew. She knew, because it was the same way he used to look at her, the same way he used to touch her so long ago.
TWO. Greg Grunberg.
He couldn’t tell when the joke became reality. When they stopped touching each other to play along with the comments on the incestuous nature of Nathan and Peter’s relationship, and started doing so because they wanted to. Maybe the jokes had always been just an excuse, he didn’t know. What he did know, was that you don’t have sex with a colleague in his trailer because the rest of the cast has been joking about your characters being in a love relationship. But, really, he didn’t want to think too much about Adrian having sex with Milo in his trailer.
THREE. Tim Kring.
If they ever come out, Tim Kring knows exactly what he will tell the press. He can give a very precise answer to the question “when did you find out?”. April 20, 2008: the Bafta Awards. It was just the three of them, but as long as Adrian and Milo were concerned, he could have stayed home. Not that they were rude to him or anything, in fact they had a couple of pleasant dinners together. But most of the time they were in their own world. Tim wondered for a few hours what was going on, then he understood.
FOUR. Hayden Panettiere.
That her relationship with Milo was a fake to get more publicity (to her, to him, to the show, it didn’t really matter) was clear from the beginning. She wasn’t a dreamy-eyed girl who didn’t know how the world (especially the entertainment world) worked, either. And yet she had hoped that they would fall in love. Colleagues who end up together, happens all the time, right? And, well, it did happen, just not the way she had hoped. Sometimes fate has a cruel way of mocking our dreams, she thought as she watched Milo leaving the set together with Adrian.
FIVE. Milo's mother.
A mother can always tell when her son is in love. Just by looking at him she knew that he was that happy. She thought it was that nice blond girl he was working with. She was maybe a little too young for him, but as long as she made him happy it didn’t matter, right? Then Milo said he would come to a family dinner with his special someone, and that his name was Adrian. It was strange in the beginning, seeing another man’s arm around her son’s back. But they were just so beautiful together, and so happy.
SIX. Beckett Pasdar (Adrian's son).
He doesn’t really know. He’s too young to know, to notice the little things: his father’s hand on Milo’s thigh when they watch a movie all together, that they sleep in the same room sometimes, that Milo is at their house very often. Too often, some would say. Beckett sees these things, but it’ll take him another few years to realize that he could have guessed the truth. Right now, Milo is just a friend of dad’s, or dad’s brother. He’s a bit confused on this point. Doesn’t matter. He’s Uncle Milo and Beckett likes to spend time with him.
SEVEN. Jack Coleman.
Jack’s not homophobic, far from it, but he’s honest enough to admit that if Milo had been a girl he would have thought a long time ago that Adrian was having an affair with her. Him. Whatever. Instead he only started to notice when Greg told him he’d seen them together. And by together I mean ‘Milo lying on the couch with Adrian on top of him kissing his neck’ together. For a few days after that conversation with Greg, it was a bit strange to work with them. He could barely look at them. Now he doesn’t mind anymore.
EIGHT. Greg Beeman.
It was a sunny winter morning and he was having a look at all the photos he’d taken during the past few months on the set of “Heroes”. Zach and Kristen doing crossword puzzles in between takes. Brea posting messages on Twitter with her Blackberry and probably updating her blog as well. Wendy fixing Sendhil’s make-up and scales for a scene. Hayden smiling widely as she shows off her terrible fake wounds. And there, in the background, there is something he hadn’t noticed before. It’s Adrian with his hands on Milo’s hips. They’re so close, so intimate. So in love.
NINE. Kristen Bell.
“Oh, c’mon Zach, you can’t be that naive. Haven’t you learned anything from me and my malice during all the years we’ve been knowing each other? It’s out there in the open for everyone to see. Yesterday night I thought Milo would kill you with the butter knife when you kept touching Adrian’s shoulder. I know you were just talking to him, but I’m telling you you’re lucky to be alive. And don’t tell me you haven’t noticed how they look at each other. I always think they’re going to fuck against the nearest wall. Would be hot. Just saying.”
TEN. Kristin Dos Santos (E!Online).
She probably knew before they did. Or, at least, that’s what she liked to think. She’d interviewed them, together or not, a few times and since the very first time she noticed that the chemistry between them went far beyond friendship. It was part of her job to be able to interpret people’s gestures, to see what was just hinted, to read in between the lines. She couldn’t be a hundred percent sure, of course, because they never told her, but it was pretty clear by the way they acted around each other that there was something more than friendship.
ELEVEN. Russ Cundiff (Divide Social Club).
This was definitely not the way he would have wanted to find out about it. He had tormented Milo for weeks, asking him thrice a day who was he dating. He couldn’t quite figure out why his friend wouldn’t just tell him. He thought Milo was having fun watching him trying so hard to guess, giving him just a few hints. Maybe he was having fun, who knows? Right now, Russ couldn’t really say. He stepped back slowly, closed the door trying not to make a sound, and walked away from Milo’s office and… what was happening inside.
