I love this; it's so beautifully quiet.

Mostly, he just wants her to wake up. is my favourite line; it's the punch you need at the end of the first section to propel the rest forward.

I agree. I'm rather fond of vigil stories myself, no matter how many times they've been done before. There's a reason we keep coming back to it as a plot device, y/y? ;)
