He's got some pickles in his pocket

There will be more text to come . . . at some point in the year. I've been meaning to make an Olympic post for three weeks (ever since I saw the Sea Bus terminal wallpapered in Coors ads, but maybe it's good that I didn't post right away, because it just would have turned into a boring anti-corporate rant no one wants to hear, but please just allow me to say this:

1) Seeing only ~20 kinds of ads on EVERY SINGLE piece of advertising space in the city (and the 'burbs!) is as creepy as all get out
2) The floor-to-ceiling MacDonalds ads in the Skytrain stations that equate MacDonalds food with Canada and Canadian spirit kind of make me feel like I've just eaten a Big Mac).

But I'm not going to complain. No, not even about the three (count 'em THREE) unfinished major construction projects along Highway 1, or of the overloaded public transit system. Nope. Not at all. Because there's one event that will erase all the bad and make me feel nothing but good from now until enternity.

I'M GOING TO SEE THE COLBERT REPORT THIS WEDNESDAY!

WAUGH!!!!!!!!

What did you think of the opening ceremonies? I still think a holographic Terry Fox lighting the cauldron would've been awesome, even if it would have made me cry like a girl.

Anyhoo . . . . here's a bit of the fireworks show that occurred after the outdoor torch lighting (since CTV didn't show it). It was nice to watch them from the comfort and dryness of my home.
