Who: Lady Marian, Lady Isabella, and Sir Guy
What: Inevitably, they had to all bump into each other
Where: Nottingham castle
When: October 2, after dinner

Guy was having a very bad day. Not only had he failed to extract anything useful from Hood over the course of a few days, which was a record endurance, but Hood had disappeared this morning. He'd exhausted himself over the course of the day searching, but he knew that if Hood hadn't been located in the first few hours after his escape, then he probably wouldn't be found that day. Therefore, Guy had spent most of his dinner avoiding his lord's gaze, and contemplating his fork, and how much force he'd have to use to jab it into Hood's eye next time he saw him. The guards who had been posted to that cell were now inside cells of their own, at least until Guy decided what to do with them next.

He wasn't even really able to look at Marian, though they hadn't spoken much in the days past the Michaelmas ball; he'd been so busy, he hadn't really been able to seek her out. Who knew what she thought of him, for having failed in his task. By now, she must have heard that he had a sister, too, one he'd never revealed to her, but he didn't know if the two women had spoken. Hopefully she forgave him, but he hadn't been able to talk to her in more than tight, brief pleasantries, shadows of the intimate moments they'd shared at Locksley. For all he knew, with the sheriff's temper, he may never get such a chance again, after this monumental failure.

The most Guy could hope for was that Hood caught some infection while in jail and he died in the forest.

With this cheerful thought, Guy was able to finish his dinner. He left, after making all the polite salutations, and headed for his room, preparing for a long, fitful night of brooding.
