Skin could split, bones could fracture, hearts could stop beating; it never failed to amaze me each time I touched a fragile human life. Sometimes I could mend them, sometimes, despite all my efforts, I could not.
I never anticipated that it would be my own son that I could not save.
I couldn’t help but feel guilty at the depth of his heartbreaking pain-the creator was suffering on behalf of what he had created.
I had always thought vampires and humans were dissimilar, but perhaps we weren’t so different after all. I could not mend my own son.
