In this blog post we're going to cover an introduction to who, what, how and why Footrr came to be.
Footrr.com is an email advertising system that allows brands to reach new segments of the marketing world. Where Facebook ads and Google ads aren't generating a huge return (due to cost per click inflation on keywords), it was time for something new. But advertising shouldn't be a one way street, not on the internet. People who are being spammed with ads all day long aren't getting anything out of it, except for a headache and the ability to ignore ads (that's a bad thing). So
Footrr.com built in a system that allows people to make money by displaying ads in their email signature. Emails are free to send, and people need to send them to communicate. It's an essential part of internet life. We've all seen those ads, “sponsor a child for less than $1/day”. What if Footrr could bring money to places that don't have it, and where better to get that money than the gigantic world of advertising? From that moment of clarity, Footrr become a reality: help people supplement their income by doing something they do anyways, and help brands with their marketing plans in a unique and strategic manner.
Footrr was originally an email that came out of
Kalob Taulien's mind. He came up with the idea for real email advertising when he was on his way to Las Vegas. The challenge: come up with a new idea before the air plane lands. Unfortunately it was not a long flight, having two layovers in between Edmonton, Canada and Las Vegas. So he has to work fast.
Having only a couple hours to come up with a new idea that hasn't really been invented was a daunting task. But it's been done before and it'll happen again. And it did. By taking all the experience, knowledge and facts, with a dash of disruption and a hint of “it's dumb that it's always been this way”, the original concept for Footrr was born. Advertising inside emails (not to be confused with advertising by sending emails).
After a few days of sitting on the idea and bouncing it off of a few close friends, Footrr started to look promising. It was time to do some serious and in-depth market research to become an expert in the field of Email Advertising.
After a few tweaks to the idea (due to findings from market research), Kalob started to code a prototype for
Footrr.com Ads and started verifying that this could actually work. And it's proven to work within the first day.
Advertising is a gigantic market. Often companies pour money into marketing without a strong ROI or create ads just to brand themselves but get nothing back. We all know how much money is in advertising - we can't even count that high! So why not allow the people who will be seeing these ads most to make some extra money? Why not try and change the world, one idea at a time? Footrr wants to enable people all across the globe to make money by doing what they already do: send emails. Oh, and the marketing that companies are doing online can be measured and seen with a high return on their investment. This is the first win-win scenario for advertising and it's viewers.
Footrr.com is a free website to join. All you need is a Facebook account to sign up and a PayPal account so we can pay you.
