Unpopular opinion time!
Gilded Lilys sounds so completely awesome I hope it gets picked up for a full series and I hope it kills Torchwood dead. I wouldn't adverse to seeing Jack in Doctor Who (even though I don't watch Doctor Who) but please no more Torchwood.

She complained that it was a step back for JB, as he has done soap operas in the past already. If you are interested, I can give you the link, but I actually stopped reading her LJ as it all was so negative all the time. I don't like such people.
For me, this does not look like a soap. Then again, I never watched Grey's anatomy or any of the previous work of the producers, so I don't know how good they are.
But I know that people call "Desperate Housewives" a soap, and for me this is so much more. It is what I would call a good drama series, yes it has soap elements, but I'd say it is of higher quality. I was so happy when John was announced for DH, as it was a series I already watched, as opposite to only watching one episode for your star without having an idea what is going on. And I think he did a great job, so I hope in a main role he will be even better.
And, what I forgot above - how awesome is it that ABC has no qualms to cast a gay man for the womanizer? I mean, really! While in other series there are discussions going on whether the audience would believe it. Hello, it's called acting!
Well, if we all had the same taste this world would be quite boring, wouldn't it? Sometimes I also give in if my friends say something is good, and sometimes I have to agree they are right. Then again, a lot of people love the Sherlock Holmes movies, and I finally got to see the first one on Sunday on TV, and I did not like it at all. Adore "Sherlock", though. So, each to their own.

I too watched Desperate Housewives, since the beginning and I agree that it's so much more than a soap - I can't wait to see how the final season plays out. I have never watched Grey's Anatomy though - I have watched a bit of Private Practice, which is a spin off - I like what I saw.
I still haven't seen the Sherlock Holmes movies because I really like "Sherlock"

I started to read a bit because what she writes about her family and the kids and all the amazing things they do is really funny. Loved especially the descriptions about the one boy having an invisible frog for a friend and whenever someone sits down on a chair or uses the loo he screams, didn't you see the frog? And one time in the tube he said he lost his frog and people started looking for it until she explained it was invisible...
Seems the kids have a great imagination, and one is especially bright, so all that was really interesting. Since I don't have any kids on my own.
I am so sad to see DH go. When it was on TV (at Wednesdays) it was my favourite day of the week. I live alone, but often I could not help laughing out loud about the jokes and one-liners. And in the next minute you get teary eyed because of all the emotions. I love that all people have several layers so whenever you think you have someone figured out there is something new.
We just stopped in the middle of the eight season and it will return in the fall. Last year I finally even got my parents addicted to it (my brother and me loved it from the beginning). I showed them some scenes (the ones where Gabby and the kids lived at Bree's and she turned the kids into well behaved children "Yes, Mrs. Van de Kamp!") and since then my parents watch it as well and we finally have something to talk about that excites us all (since often the interests are so different). I hope they will watch the older episodes also once my brother buys the DVD set.
I loved especially all the interviews with John when he practically was jumping up and down in his seat over his excitement to be part of the show. As he also is a fan, and it is surely great when you then meet the actresses in real life!
I don't like medical shows period, so I never watch any. Don't like all those crime shows, either. Series I loved were "Boston Legal" or "Queer as Folk" or also "Party of Five", and of course "Lois & Clark". My newest addition is "White Collar", but I have only seen one season so far. We are a bit behind sometimes.
Then you probably will not like the movies either. They had everything I do not like. Starting with fast cut martial arts fight scenes which reminded me of "Matrix", over black magic and people doing enormous (but to me boring) speeches like the world will end soon, till too many computer effects etc etc.

I'm curretnly watch season 8 of DH - we'll get it all in one go, which is good. I did one of those 'which housewife are you'quizes a while ago - apparently I'm a Susan, lol. I love how excited John was about being in DH - he's so adorable.

I like six feet under but I still haven't seen the final series at all - I really should just watch it to complete things. I am all about Game of Thrones at the moment though
