Do one thing every day that scares you.

So I sign up for The Bank's internal Pride mailing-list. Mainly I do so out of a sense of solidarity because, while my sexual orientation is officially classified as 'bemused', I tend to formally identify myself as gay for the sake of simplicity. I mean, heck, I have a boyfriend and we own a dog-in gay terms, that's common-law marriage.

And a while later, after I've done some (if I may say so) rather inspired work on one of our big servers, I get an email from a director of The Bank, saying he notices I've joined the mailing list, and... oh, would I care for lunch sometime this week? (A director is actually a fairly common rank-this isn't a member of the Board or anything. But still.) So, after some trepidation, and laughing about the situation with some of my closer friends at work, we arrange for lunch on Wednesday. I have no idea if he's canvassing for more people for the Pride thing, or is reckoning on making a pass at me, or just wants to be sociable. (Probably the last.)

When I get home on Tuesday night, I find that a certain T-shirt (reasonably SFW) has arrived in the post.

I'd originally decided I'd be too shy to wear it to work. But the thought of wearing it for lunch with a gay director of a Swiss bank?

My Mischief Daemon wants to go on the rampage!

work, fear, taunting fate
