popcorn on the kob

I like how the time that lapses when you download something large or rip tracks from a CD is in its own universe. I just spent forty-some minutes ripping six tracks, but those forty-some minutes lapsed in a few minutes in the real world. It's like the comic book universe. Since the 1960s, Peter Parker has maybe aged five or ten years, even though there were certainly allusions to current events and current styles throughout that half century that he spent aging those five or ten years.

It's been a warm fall so far, but that hasn't stopped my peppers from reddening and wilting faster than I can eat them. I decided to pick them all and dry them out. I also decided to save the seeds, but, naturally, I read up on the proper way to do that after I was nearly finished with the project. I guess the viable ones are the ones that have become loose inside the pepper. I just saved all of them, figuring if the pepper was already red and starting to wrinkle, the plant must be readying for the next generation already. I now have a very low-yield collection of seeds for the spring.

I've been using my car as a solar oven to dry out my peppers. Once they're dry enough, I'll turn them into flakes somehow (with a blender or mortar and pestle--I'm not sure). They won't add much flavor, but they'll add color.

I checked out a Korean audio course at the library on a whim. After getting tongue-tied just trying to say "Excuse me, do you speak English?" (in Korean), I think I might give up on the idea of dabbling in a third language. I'll just try to make less of a train wreck out of my second language, Spanish. They have audio courses for that, which will no doubt be easier for me.
