My mother left for Korea today. I was surprised she decided on the trip. It was a very last-minute decision on her part, and she hasn't been back to Korea since I was in diapers. One of my relatives is getting married (I can't remember which one), which is the reason for the trip.
It's been fun listening to pundits wonder why Brand Republican is failing. I would have to agree with the sentiment among many that Fox "News" is partially to blame. They have been driving the right further right, thereby alienating a lot of voters--especially if they don't belong to that shrinking segment of society known as white males (or, more aptly, white males who are only concerned with themselves and others like them).
For me at least, the GOP no longer sounds like a serious political party--and they haven't for a while. They just sound like an anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-black, and anti-poor hate group. And after spending the last four years demonizing Obama and "holding the economy hostage" to make him look bad, they don't seem capable of anything constructive. All they can do is scapegoat and point fingers. They're a complete joke.
If Americans want a conservative political party, they have one: the Democrats. The Democrats have turned their noses up at labor, only pay lip service to ending America's foreign interventions, and only do enough (or pretend to do enough) about climate change to pacify the majority of Americans who are concerned about the enviroment. And if Americans want a liberal party, they can vote Green. The Republican Party is useless, pathetic, and deserves to become a chapter in U.S. history.
