My second piece for the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona Blog appeared today. It's another that I wasn't that excited about; the pieces I like more are coming out later (already submitted but pending review).

I had what felt like a long day, even though I left work early. My copy of Visions of Abolition came in, so I went to Revolutionary Grounds to pick it up. Somehow my afternoon vanished in the process of watching it (and not even all of it), taking a quick nap, and then getting ready to leave the house to see Tim Wise speak. Once there, I spent more time than I anticipated--in large part because Wise was very long-winded during the question-and-answer session following his speech. But it was worth it! He's a great speaker, one of those rare people who brings the academic merits plus excellent rhetorical skills (and even bits of sardonic comic relief) to the podium.

I met Joe at the speech intentionally and TC by chance and ended up chatting with both of them after the speech (not simultaneously, but in succession). Since the line for book signings was short by the time I had chatted with both of them, I decided to get a copy of Dear White America, Wise's newest book, signed. I already owned it and had already read it, but since I was there and so was Tim Wise, I decided to buy a copy and let him take a Sharpie to it.

Now it's time to go to bed.

friends, books
