This is how stupid I am: I'm around so many feminists all of the time that I had no idea how many people still use douche. I was just under the impression that it had gone away like the chastity belt. I knew it was probably still used in parts of the world where people like to practice that old-time patriarchy (perhaps in the South, for example ( Read more... )

Ditto to what junkiepants said. I have no clue why they are even on the market.

I hate douche commericals, as if walking on the beach really has anything to do with shooting water and chemicals into your coochie.

You're tripping me out with all of your HTML tricks. I've never seen anyone put a LiveJournal name that doesn't hyperlink to the person's journal.

I didn't realize there were commercials for douche, either. I never watch television. Maybe that's why I was surprised that people still use that shit.

I just put a link to the image of the little LJ face and then wrote the username in boldface type, it's not a link.

Massengil comes to mind when I think of douche commericals. But then again, that was back in the 80's. I feel old.

I see. I just right-clicked on it, selected "View Image", and saw that the image is on LiveJournal's server at http://stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif. That just seems like a lot of work compared to typing in all of the angle-brackets and quotation marks to render junkiepants.

I remember those commercials when I was in grade school. I don't think I've seen them more recently than that. I was just assuming (and hoping) that Massengil was in the same category as Thalidomide these days.

Well how do you do the links then?

Ive always done it the old html way, I dont like the feature on LJ that does it for you, it messes up the page alignment.

I guess I've never paid attention to how it affects page alignment. All you have to do is type in < lj user="junkiepants" > (without the spaces between the angle-brackets and the other characters).
