Libation

Ohmygod... If I've been quiet, don't think it's because I haven't been having a good time- rather the opposite. It's taken me until today to recover - and I was one of the quiet ones!

Yes, it was Sam's annual soiree on Saturday and it was brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. And that's repeating myself. Far too much to tell - if you want full details, you should have gone along ;-)

Arrived to find lots of people with wet hair or wearing hoodies transferring chairs, tables, booze (as if Sam would forget that!) and music to the barn - like you do when it starts raining just as everyone's due to arrive and just won't stop - and it was... Well, you've got the idea by now.

As it got dusk (which didn't take long, given the cloud cover) the bats came out to play which made for a very dramatic reading of Varney the Vampire.... Plus there was absinthe, a trip down to the spooky tree with offerings (at midnight, of course) and enough food and drink to sink a battleship (And us. We did make a creditable attempt to finish it all, but my memory does start to get a bit hazy by around 3 a.m.)

I have a vague recollection that as it got colder, most of us were modelling a natty line in horse blankets - Alistair's earned him the name of Greendalf in the process. You should have seen it. Really, you should. And Ill's dad made us all so welcome - he wasn't even fazed by dishevelled horde making their way into the kitchen sometime after 8 o'clock on Sunday morning.

Can't possibly say thanks enough times. But thanks, Sam and Co. Again and again.
