Book View Cafe opened November 15th 2008. It serves up fiction for free (and larger serves for sale, as well) from published authors in a number of genres such as romance, science fiction, fantasy, and horror. There are 20 of us cooperating in the project, including Ursula Le Guin, Vonda McIntyre, Sarah Zettel, Brenda Clough, Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, and Anne Harris. The site has new material every day, so it’s an easy way to get a taste of authors you’ve never before read. As our project manager, Sarah Zettel, puts it: “Book View Cafe will make sure the customer gets the stories they want, when they want, how they want, wherever they want. We are the library in your back pocket.”
I’ll be putting up free chapters of The Red Country, in November-December. I’ll also be putting up chapters of Riversend, the sequel to Amberlight, so for those who want to know what happened next, there will be an advance glimpse, beginning sometime in December. And later, I’ll have a free download of a story set in the world of the Rihannar Chronicles, never published before.
